Open Source is increasingly used in digital technologies and open source software business also plays a huge role in the European economy. Based on a study published 2021 by the European Commission on the impact of open source software (OSS) and open source hardware (OSH), the study estimates that open source software contributes between €65 to €95 billion to the European Union’s GDP and promises significant growth opportunities for the region’s digital economy. To achieve that, we should actively engage in a transition towards more openness in its political and investment culture.
In this track we will be showcasing innovative open source solutions and technologies of tomorrow as well as different strategies and business models. We will also dive into the role and importance of open source in the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). You will hear interesting case examples from various open source companies – both from Finland and abroad.
