Martin von Willebrand is a technology lawyer with a focus on open technologies. He helps organizations work with open technologies and build their open source competence. Typical matters he advises on include open source policies, compliance, contributing, publishing code, related strategy work, collaboration activities and education. He also helps his clients in buying and selling units/companies, with a particular focus on software-heavy transactions. His positions of trust include the Finnish IT Law Association (Secretary 2006-2008, Chairman 2009-2010), Chairman of Validos (2008-) and Chairman of the Board of the Finnish Center for Open Systems and Solutions (2014-2018, Board Member 2012-, Steering Group Member 2008-). He has authored books, including co-authoring the JIT 2015 handbook regarding public IT procurement guidelines, and numerous articles. For example Best Lawyers, Who’s Who Legal and many other publications rate him among top technology and data protection practitioners in Finland.
